The Decorative Fair, Battersea, Autumn 2025

Updated: 1 day ago

The Decorative Fair returned to Battersea Park this autumn, bringing together an inspiring mix of design, antiques and collectable pieces. As ever, the fair drew designers, decorators, collectors, and interior decor enthusiasts from across the UK, all on the hunt for objects with character, history, and craftsmanship.

For us at Mid Century Design Haus, it’s always a date firmly marked in the diary. The fair has a unique ability to bridge early antiques with mid-century design and modern decorative pieces, creating a space where styles sit comfortably together and new ideas tend to surface.

A Celebration of Timeless Design

One of the fair’s enduring strengths is its curatorial variety. Over 130 dealers showcased everything from traditional decorative antiques to 20th-century furniture, lighting, art and textiles. For anyone interested in midcentury furniture in London, the fair offered a rich landscape of textures, materials and silhouettes, from sculptural lounge chairs to elegant teak sideboards.

Mid-century design continues to be a strong presence at the fair: clean lines, thoughtful craftsmanship and pieces with a sense of place and purpose. These timeless forms sit beautifully within modern homes, which is why they remain at the core of what we source and curate at Mid Century Design Haus.

Alongside the mid-century classics, the fair’s decorative objects, ceramics and lighting added opportunities to layer personality into contemporary spaces. It’s this blend, the modern alongside the historic, that keeps the Decorative Fair so compelling.

Why Events Like This Matter

Fairs such as this play an important role in the design world, particularly for those gathering ideas or building a considered home:

  • They showcase a breadth of eras, inviting new combinations and unexpected pairings.

  • They create conversations with knowledgeable dealers whose insight helps deepen appreciation for both iconic and lesser-known designers.

  • They champion sustainability, a key consideration for anyone choosing pre-loved pieces over new.

  • And importantly, they allow buyers to experience scale, finish and condition first-hand, something that can never be fully replicated online.

For anyone exploring London’s design scene or searching for midcentury furniture in London, events like the Decorative Fair offer inspiration and direction.

If you enjoy shows like this, you might also like our reflections on another favourite event, A Successful Day at the Mid Century Modern Show in London, which captures more of our approach to sourcing and curating vintage design.

Looking Ahead

Whether you attend for inspiration, knowledge or the thrill of the unexpected find, The Decorative Fair remains one of London’s most spirited design events,  relaxed, welcoming and full of character.

We’re already looking forward to the Winter edition in January 2026, and to continuing the search for mid-century & decorative pieces with the craftsmanship and presence that define what we do at Mid Century Design Haus.

If you’re exploring ideas for your home or searching for a particular piece, feel free to get in touch, we’re always happy to help you source something special.
